You may or may not have heard about the #TheyKnew campaign being headed by Maggie Oliver. They are seeking to bring civil actions and/or private prosecutions against individuals and public bodies that were aware of children and young people who were being sexually abused or exploited, but did nothing. Obviously we support action for change and are pleased to see people being held to account.
So it happened! It feels like we have been planning and thinking about it for so long (we announced it on the 30th November 2024 FYI!), but last weekend the Inner Child Retreat 2025 took place, and all we can say is “Wow!”
Have you watched the “Stacey Dooley, Rape on Trial” 2-part documentary yet? I must admit to feeling apprehensive, knowing that the subject material was going to be hard hitting, and for me close to home. Also, hopeful that there was a light being shone on this important subject, and maybe, just maybe there would be some positive outcomes. Now if you haven’t watched it, this does contain spoilers!

I’m just back from seeing Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (BJMATB) for the second time in 2 days…what can I say…I feel like I’ve grown up with her, and she deserves my time as the franchise leaves her to…LIVE!
You may or may not have noticed that we are preparing for the upcoming inner child retreat – we nave mentioned it a few times! So we thought we would take a moment to talk about why we have picked this subject and why it matters.
We like everyone are in awe of Gisele Pelicot and the incredible way she has spoken out and been heard in relation to the horrific abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband and many other men.
What does this time of year mean to you? It is so different for us all, and yet some themes feel like they are there for a lot of us. Are we feeling pressure – pressure to be something, be somewhere, present ourselves in a certain way? The pressure to make everything “Perfect” and be happy can become overwhelming.
Many apologies for our absence! What can we say other than we were seriously busy in the run up to the Retreat - which was amazing in case you hadn't heard! Since then we have both been under the weather, which has slowed us up a bit. There has also been the loss of my dog and the addition of a puppy who is adorable - but wow - do you know he is here! Let's just say he is a time thief, but pets give us so much in the long run, don't they? So, that is why we have been quieter than usual, but we wanted to share a few thoughts before we head into the Christmas season too much further.
I have a ‘pet project’, I really want to see “Please bear with me, I have known trauma” cards brought into all medical settings (especially hospitals and dental practices).
I’ve (G) worked in (childhood) sexual abuse for 16yrs and I know that I could never work with the perpetrators of these heinous crimes.
